Nicholas Watts was born in Tunbridge Wells, England, a short distance from the Brands Hatch Grand prix circuit.  From an early age he was fascinated by the form and function of automobiles.  He soon began to draw and paint them.  He left school at the age of 16 to become an engineering draightsman at Vauxhall Motors of Luton, then later joined the Royal Air Force as a sepcialist in navigation system.  After his period of military service, he returned to his easel and has since become one of the foremost painters of motor racing art.

Today Nicholas works in a studio attached to his house.  He lives in a small village 3 hours North of London.  His wife Lyn is Managing Director of Automobile Art International, a company that represents his work.  they have two grown up children, Lyndsay and Matthew..
